Driving

September 9, 2018 By reduit bleu

St Lucia is a small island, but despite it’s size, there’s plenty to do. The best way to see the island is by car. If you’re used to mountain roads, then hire a car from a local firm – four wheel drive is best. A few holiday lets come with a car, or the host can provide one. Rates vary significantly and it’s always worth shopping around for the best deal.

If you’re in a group, it’s worth considering hiring a minibus and driver to tour the island. There are also a few operators running group tours on the island.

Many St Lucians feel there are too many cars on the road – avoid the Castries-Gros Islet highway in the mornings and early evenings as the road can be very busy.
